Not Sure What This Is For - Background on C and I

I have always been interested in having a family.  Growing up I was always the cousin would would play with the babies and toddlers at family functions.  I was always the helper at camp, or in school, to help the teacher or counselor with the younger kids.  As soon as I was old enough to take a babysitting and CPR class I did, so that I could start watching other people's children.  I knew that I wanted a family at a young age; fortunately, life doesn't usually go as plan and I didn't meet my wife until I was 25 years old.

C and I met when I was 25 and she was 24. After running around in the same friend circle for a year we eventually started "talking" and then dating.  We only lived a few blocks away from each other and within a few months of dating we were spending a lot of time together.  It just felt right and I knew 6 months into the relationship that C was the one, and that I wanted to live with her.  We talked and decided that we would start to look at places to rent together for when our leases expired in a few months.  She then had the great idea to buy, so that's what we did.

After dating for a little over one year we moved into our new home and began cohabitation.  A year later we got a dog (C's first dog ever) and that Halloween we got engaged (thank you stock market!).  I still say that the dog was the best thing we ever did.  C is very logical and I believe getting our dog fostered a nurturing side to her I never knew existed.  To this day I still think she loves the dog more than me.

Roughly 18 months after getting engaged we finally tied the knot and made it official. This was still one of the best days of my life.  After we got married we did a lot of traveling but knew that we wanted a family and didn't want to wait for years to start trying.  In November of 2017 we decided that we would begin trying the following winter/spring and got to planning (well I got to planning...)  We found out in the beginning of March that C was pregnant and haven't looked back since!  Now she is over 36 weeks pregnant and we are hitting the final stretch.

I have never been much of a writer, journaler, blogger, whatever... but after deciding with my wife  that we were ready to start a family this just felt right. This blog will tell my (our) story. Don't expect it to be perfectly edited or look pretty.  It will just be my rambling thoughts. This will be written so I can remember MY life, the rest of you are just coming along for the ride.

A few things about me:

  • I enjoy work and work crazy hours. Some days will be fairly light and other days I may work 16+ hours
  • I enjoy Crossfit but sometimes I am "over it" and don't enjoy it like I usually do.  Usually at this point I take a week or two off then get back after it.
  • I enjoy running... sometimes.  This has only been a thing since I joined Crossfit about 5 years ago.
  • I know a decent amount about nutrition and have been following a macro diet loosely since january 2016.
  • I enjoy alcohol and sometimes feels like this clashes with my crossfit enjoyment.  In my mind I don't think I can enjoy both alcohol and be in the shape I want to be in.
  • I have body image issues and can never look like I imagine in my head I should.  This tends to me saying screw it for a week and sabotaging any hard work I have accomplished.
  • I'm a nerd/geek. I enjoy comics, board games, video games, movies, etc.
  • I have a hard time finding balance...
